We value the experience of climbing with the companion of highly skilled and professional guides who will do their best to provide a full experience to the clients. In order to achieve this we promote the elevation of the professional climbing guiding and instructing to higher levels by supporting the Climbing Guides Association of Rio de Janeiro, Aguiperj, which sets standards, provides support and education for rock climbing guides and instructors.

We only hire guides who are as fluent in english as in portuguese.

Gustavo Sampaio

Our director has been guiding since 1992 having climbed in Yosemite (El Capitan and Half Dome), Wind Rivers Range, Australia, and set several big-walls in Rio de Janeiro and on rock faces in Brasil.

He has been one of the coordinators of the Professional Climbing Guides Certification Program of Aguiperj.

Gustavo is also specialized in guiding children from 6 to 10 years of age, havin an MA in Education, is fluent in English, Spanish and some French.

Andrew Lenz

Andrew is one of the most competent professional climbing guides of Rio de Janeiro. Born in United States, he fell in love for Brazil, and has been living here for more than a decade. During this time he has been guiding since 1992 in Yosemite, and set several new climbing routes in Rio. Andrew also coordinates the CEU - Centro de Escalada Urbana (Rio Urban Climbing Center) - where a group of professioanl climbing guides enad instructors teach young kids from the Rocinha favela the climbing art. He is also an experienced sailer and runs the sailing company. www.ancouraue.com.br

Bruno Gandelman

Bruno is a very good climbing guide and partner who's been climbing since 1991. Since then he climbed also in the US. He is a very talented climber who also enjoys running, surfing, cooking and design.

Ralf Cortes

One of Brasil's most complete rock climber Ralf has done some of the country's most dificult sport climbs redpointing 5.14 routes as well as done remote big-wall first ascents. Has over 20 years experience on the vertical game having climbed in Mexico, Chile, Spain, England and US. Ralf has great lead climber's atitude and is an excelent compainion for guided climbs.

Daniel Fernandes

Guiding since 1995, Daniel has set and repeated some of the most remote big-wall routes of the state and has a Physical Education degree and developed work with children in public schools of Rio de Janeiro. Daniel majored in Medicine.
